The American Warrior Initiative (AWI) partnered with Fairway Independent Mortgage Corporation in Loveland, Colorado, to honor a veteran with a grant. A “Boot Camp” training event was also held to educate real estate professionals on working with the home purchase needs of active duty and military veterans.
Carey Duval, a local active duty member of the U.S. Army, was honored with a grant of $10,500. Duval lost part of his right arm while serving in Afghanistan and continues to serve in the U.S. Army today.
Duval was on leave to his hometown in Northern Colorado and was invited to speak in front of the Realtors. He inspired everyone in attendance with his story. Little did he know that he would be surprised by the generous grant given to him by the American Warrior Initiative and local Fairway Independent Mortgage Corporation branches.
Branch Manager, Carrie Gusmus, was honored to be able to host such a fantastic event:
“We host AWI events to educate our real estate community on the service we owe to our veterans. Regardless if current or past, these men and women put their lives on the line at home and abroad to serve America and to protect our freedom. One of the few great things we do for them as a country is offer VA loans. The AWI event educates the community – not on the loan itself, but on the humanity of the service men and women and how we need to honor and serve them. A crucial part of the event is honoring a local disabled veteran who is in need. Having the ability to impact even one life . . . it’s a debt, it’s an honor . . . at Fairway, it’s a calling. We’ve had agents attend and tell us this is not a continuing education class. Rather, it’s an event that they will never forget and will change their perspectives for the rest of their career and life.”
The American Warrior Initiative is a national non-profit organization sponsored by Fairway Independent Mortgage Corporation. AWI seeks to ease the transition for U.S. veterans between military and civilian life.
I am proud to work for a company that does so much to honor those who sacrifice for our country. If I can answer any questions about VA loans or any other home loans, please call me today.
