Across the U.S., Nancy Lieberman Charities and WorldVentures Foundation build basketball courts in underprivileged communities to encourage youth development and provide a safe area to play basketball. The Portage DreamCourt is the 26th of its kind nationwide.

At a recent Dream Ball Gala hosted by Nancy Lieberman Charities, Fairway CEO, Steve Jacobson, purchased a basketball court in Portage with a plan to allow the DreamCourt to be built. An opening ceremony will be held at the DreamCourt, where Lieberman will be on site to play basketball with youth attendees. The finished 35- by 65-foot court is valued at approximately $30,000, containing fiberglass backboards with a shelf life of 25 to 30 years.

Gregg Steinhaus, Branch Manager of Fairway’s Portage branch and Portage, WI, native, commented that the DreamCourt will help children, “To learn the kind of lessons that go on forever in life.” He added, “For the group I played with, we learned the valuable lessons of hard work, and the fact nobody’s more important than the team, lessons instructed to us by A group of kids on a basketball court holding basketballsour coach (Howard Ochs), and our leader, Steve (Jacobson), leads the same way.”

The Nancy Lieberman Foundation was established upon the mission “to provide a healthy, physical, emotional and mental environment for young girls and boys to build their self esteem and confidence so they will be able to make the right choices in the future.” In addition to building DreamCourts, Nancy Lieberman Charities holds basketball camps and clinics to help children with their basketball skillset as well as life values and skills.
